Albania Geography: A Potential Overview for Grade 3

Albania, sometimes called "The Land of the Eagles," is a country in Southeastern Europe. It's bordered by several other countries: Greece, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. On its west side, Albania meets the Adriatic Sea.

Mountains, Hills, and Coasts:

Albania is very mountainous! Mountains and hills cover most of the country. The tallest mountain is called Mount Korab. There are also lowlands along the coast where the land is flatter.

Rivers and Lakes:

Many rivers flow through Albania, including the Drin, Seman, Shkumbin, and Vjosë. Albania also has beautiful lakes. Some of the biggest are Lake Scutari (also called Lake Shkodër), Lake Ohrid, and Lake Prespa.

Climate:

Albania has warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The weather in the mountains can be more extreme than near the coast.

Fun Facts:

  • Mother Teresa was of Albanian descent.
  • The Albanian language is very unique.

This overview provides a general introduction to Albania's geography and could be further adapted and expanded upon for a Grade 3 curriculum.
