Argentina Upper Secondary School Biology
The Argentinan education system consists of primary and secondary levels. Secondary education (educación secundaria) typically lasts for 5 or 6 years, depending on the province. Years 1-3 are common to all schools (Ciclo básico), while years 4-6 (or 4-5 in some provinces) are organized into orientations (Ciclo orientado) such as Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Arts, Sport, and Design.
Biology is typically offered as part of the Natural Sciences orientation in upper secondary school.
In Buenos Aires, a core biology curriculum was established in 2009 for secondary schools. This curriculum is shared by different types of secondary schools. More information about the science curriculum in Buenos Aires can be found on the TIMSS 2015 Encyclopedia. |
