Argentina Ciclo Básico - Sciences
This section details the Sciences curriculum for the Argentina Ciclo Básico (Secondary School Years 1-3).
First Year
The first year of Ciencias Naturales in the Ciclo Básico introduces students to fundamental concepts in science. The Núcleos de Aprendizajes Prioritarios (NAP) provide a common foundation for teaching across the country. Specific subjects covered may include Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Some curricula focus on the introduction to ecosystems, matter and energy interactions, and the cell. One example of a Biology curriculum for the first year focuses on planning and didactic development. A video resource discussing teaching methods for natural sciences in the first cycle is available.
Second Year
The second year builds upon the foundational knowledge from the first year. The NAP continues to be a guiding framework. The curriculum may include more in-depth studies in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Some examples of specific resources include online classes covering cell characteristics, functions, and membrane transport. Additional materials for teachers are also available. A textbook titled "El porvenir de la vida" (The Future of Life) is available for second year students. The "Colección Horizontes" series provides study notebooks for each subject area.
Third Year
The third year concludes the Ciclo Básico and prepares students for more specialized studies in the Ciclo Orientado. The NAP continues to provide a framework for learning. The curriculum may include integrated studies of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Specific program examples include subjects like Physics, Organic Chemistry, and Mathematics. The "Colección Horizontes" series also offers study notebooks for third-year students. The official curriculum document for the third year provides details on the content and processes covered. Additional resources are available from the Ministry of Education. |
