Armenia 3rd Grade Social Studies Curriculum

KZV Armenian School:
At KZV Armenian School, 3rd grade social studies is integrated with Language Arts and Science. The curriculum focuses on:
- California Communities: Students learn about geography, Native Americans, rules and laws, and the economy of California communities.
- Concepts of Continuity, Change, and Communication: These concepts are explored through discussions, investigations, and interactions with the community.
- Armenian History and Culture: Students learn about the Armenian genocide, Armenia's two periods of independence (1918 and 1991), important Armenian figures and events, and Armenian folk epic heroes. They also learn about Armenian holidays and traditions such as Armenian Christmas, Dyarnuntaratch, Agrahadig, Easter, and Hampartzoom. Projects include creating a family tree and an Armenian scrapbook. Students are tested twice per quarter on social studies content.
