UK Year 7 National Curriculum - Science
The UK Year 7 Science curriculum builds upon prior learning from primary school and introduces students to more advanced concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The curriculum aims to provide a foundation for understanding the world through these scientific disciplines.
Biology
Year 7 Biology covers topics such as cells, organisms, ecosystems, and genes. Students learn about the structure and function of cells, how organisms interact with their environment, and the principles of reproduction and inheritance.
Chemistry
Year 7 Chemistry introduces students to the particle model of matter, separating mixtures, metals and non-metals, acids and alkalis, and chemical reactions. Students learn about the properties of different substances and how they interact with each other.
Physics
Year 7 Physics explores topics such as energy, waves, forces, and motion. Students learn about different forms of energy, how energy is transferred, the properties of waves (sound and light), and the relationship between forces and motion.
Key Stage 3 Science National Curriculum
The Year 7 Science curriculum falls under the broader Key Stage 3 Science National Curriculum, which aims to develop a deeper understanding of scientific ideas across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The official government document outlining the KS3 Science curriculum can be found here: Additional resources and information on KS3 Science can be found at
Resources and Worksheets
Various resources and worksheets are available to support Year 7 Science learning, including those aligned with the National Curriculum. These resources can be found through online platforms like Twinkl, EdPlace, and Teachit. Oak National Academy also provides lesson plans and resources for Year 7 Science. |
