UAE Grade 12 National Curriculum - Electives

The UAE Grade 12 National Curriculum includes core subjects and elective subjects. Students choose one group of electives.

Core Subjects

Core subjects are mandatory for all students. While some sources list specific subjects like Arabic, English, Islamic education, science, physical education, mathematics, social studies, arts, and music, the Ministry of Education website provides a more definitive list.

According to the Ministry of Education, the compulsory subjects include:

• Arabic
• Islamic Education
• Social Studies/Moral Education
• English
• Mathematics (General/Advanced)
• Physical Education

Elective Subject Groups

Students choose one of the following two elective groups:

Science Group

This group focuses on traditional science subjects:

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology

Other Electives Group

This group offers a diverse range of subjects:

• Computing
• Creative Design and Innovation
• Health Sciences
• Arts

This elective model allows students to tailor their education to their interests and career aspirations. It was implemented for Grade 11 and 12 students in public and private schools following the Ministry of Education curriculum.
