UAE Grade 12 National Curriculum - English

The UAE's Ministry of Education (MoE) governs the national curriculum, emphasizing UAE values and culture. Arabic is the medium of instruction for all subjects except English, which is taught as a second language and used for technical or scientific subjects. The MoE's National Language Curriculum Framework is followed by public schools. Private schools offer various curricula, including International Baccalaureate (IB), British, American, French, German, Indian, Pakistani, and Filipino syllabuses.

The National English Language Curriculum Framework is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It describes learning outcomes across a 10-level scale aligned with CEFR proficiency levels. The curriculum frameworks are guided by core values and beliefs influencing content, teaching methodologies, and assessment methods. In 2017, the MoE reviewed the K-12 English curriculum framework, resulting in a new national curriculum framework.

The EmSAT (Emirates Standardized Test) is used for admissions to federal universities within the UAE. Emirati students must achieve a minimum score of 1100 in the English Language test, while non-Emirati students have specific requirements.
