UAE Ministry of Education Grade 7 Arabic Curriculum

The Grade 7 Arabic curriculum in the UAE aims to develop students' proficiency in the Arabic language, encompassing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The curriculum is designed to meet the learning needs of both native Arabic speakers (Arabic A) and those learning Arabic as a second language (Arabic B). The Ministry of Education sets the core curriculum, with schools often incorporating additions and adaptations.

Arabic A

This course caters to native Arabic speakers and focuses on exposing students to various informational and literary texts. These texts serve as tools to enhance vocabulary, grammar usage, and writing composition skills. The curriculum covers classic and modern poetry and prose, often connected to UAE identity, Islamic and Arabic history, and cultural background. Students are assessed through regular exams in reading and writing, culminating in a comprehensive end-of-year exam.

Arabic B

Designed for students learning Arabic as a second language, this course builds upon prior knowledge and lays the groundwork for future GCSE studies. It emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with additional focus on translation and spontaneous speaking. The curriculum also aims to cultivate an appreciation for Arabic culture and customs.

The course content typically covers the following themes throughout the year:

  • Term 1: Me & My Family; Home & Town
  • Term 2: Health & Safety (Sports & Hobbies; Foods)
  • Term 3: School & Jobs

Students are assessed through summative assessments each term, aligned with the skills developed. The end-of-year assessment covers all modules studied. Formative assessments are also conducted regularly.

Various resources support the curriculum, including textbooks, digital learning platforms like Languagenut, and supplementary websites. Students are often grouped based on their Arabic language proficiency, allowing for adjustments based on individual needs.
