I’m Teacher Jess and i’m a chinese teacher.

What’s your teaching experience?

我的人生多数是在教学与学习中度过的。18年前，我毕业于师范大学音乐学系，主要专业是攻克中学音乐教育。然而当我毕业时，由于中文师资紧缺，我去从事学前教育工作，一做就是14年。在此期间，我主要学习关于语言教学的各种基础，掌握3-7岁孩子的年龄特点、学习特点和心理特点，这样才能有效开展教学工作。我认为在与孩子互动教学的过程中，最重要的是回应孩子的问题，如何将回应准确并提升到所学知识中是我一直追求的状态。当然，在上海公办学校工作的14年间，我接受了各种培训，比如高级技术职称的聘任、双语教学培训（对外汉语），以及学校管理等能力培训。在2015年，我有幸参与了上海某阅读机构的创办，在这里，主要研究绘本教学，帮助孩子们通过绘本故事的学习一步步走上自主阅读。我在一年的时间里，阅读与研究过近3000本中、英文绘本故事，这对我了解孩子、提升中文教学有很大帮助。现在，我就职于Masterhand培训机构，主要负责小学3-5年级政府教材教学以及中学7年级的标准汉语教学

Most of my life is spent in teaching and learning. Eighteen years ago, I graduated from the Music school in University, my main major is to conquer middle school music education. However, when I graduated, due to the shortage of Chinese teachers, I went to work in preschool education for 14 years. During this period, I mainly learned about the various foundations of language teaching, and mastered the age characteristics, learning characteristics and psychological characteristics of children aged 3-7, so as to effectively carry out the teaching work. I think that in the process of interactive teaching with children, the most important thing is to respond to the children’s questions. How to accurately respond and improve the knowledge that I have learned is the state I have been pursuing. Of course, during the 14 years of working in a public school in Shanghai, I received various trainings, such as the appointment of senior technical titles, bilingual teaching training (foreign Chinese), and school management skills training. In 2015, I was fortunate to participate in the establishment of a reading organization in Shanghai. Here, I mainly study the teaching of picture books and help children learn to read independently through the study of picture book stories. In one year, I have read and studied nearly 3,000 Chinese and English picture book stories, which has greatly helped me understand my children and improve Chinese teaching. Now, I work for Masterhand training organization, mainly responsible for the teaching of government textbooks for grades 3-5 in primary school and standard Chinese teaching for grade 7 in middle schools.

Why do you enjoy teaching?

可能我一直有一颗好奇心，我对充满未知的世界有很强的探索欲望，就像孩子。跟孩子在一起交流，能充分打开想象力，这是很好的体验。

Maybe I have always had a curiosity, I have a strong desire to explore the world full of unknowns, just like a child. Communicating with children can fully open up the imagination, which is a very good experience.

What’s one fun fact about you?

在我从事教学的这些年中，有很多有趣的故事。可以说只要教学不停，趣味就不停。
我记得有个7岁的孩子不明白什么是“门口”，于是我在google中搜索各种门口给她，比如学校门口、教室门口、动物园门口、酒店门口、超市门口、卧室门口、餐厅门口、厕所门口等等。虽然我不停的重复“门口”，但她并未感到枯燥，因为各种环境给她新鲜的刺激。于是她的记忆就积极接受这种关于“门口”的信息，最后，她对我主动说：“下次上课，我会在门口等您”。

During my years of teaching, there are many interesting stories. It can be said that as long as the teaching does not stop, the fun will not stop.
I remember a 7-year-old child didn’t understand what “doorway” is, so I searched for various doorways in Google, such as school door, classroom door, zoo door, hotel door, supermarket door, bedroom door, restaurant door, The toilet door, etc. Although I kept repeating the “doorway”, she did not feel bored, because various environments gave her fresh stimulation. So her memory actively accepted this kind of information about the “doorway”, and finally, she took the initiative to say to me: “Next time in class, I will wait for you at the door.”
