What’s your name?
My name is Kethlyn and I am a freelance trainer.
What’s your teaching experience?
I have been a freelance trainer for about 9 years. I first started out as an Early Childhood Educator in a school for children with Learning Difficulties. Thereafter, I ventured into becoming a freelance Visual Arts trainer and I teach in MOE schools ranging from Preschool all the way to Junior College. I also teach in schools for students with disabilities, Girls Home, and the Prisons. Occasionally, I would conduct career workshops for students who are interested in Early Childhood Education.
How do you teach that helps students learn efficiently?
The great thing about being in my Art classroom is that there is no wrong answer! Providing students with the opportunities to explore, experiment, discover their niches, and practice to fine-tune their skills have always been my go-to. That and loads of encouragement! For every milestone is a victory worth celebrating.
Why do you enjoy teaching?
Throughout these 9 years, I have learned so much from the students. Some of them have taught me so much about the world, and some have even taught me better techniques to obtain a desired outcome in my works. I have always viewed them as knowledgable beings waiting to discover their own talent and so it is pure joy to be a part of their learning journey.
What’s one fun fact about you?
I am a major foodie and in my spare time, I go on food journeys to discover and document the best places and dishes around Singapore.
