What’s your name?
My name is Divya and I am an English teacher.
What’s your teaching experience?
I started teaching part-time in university, to earn some pocket money. However, over time, I developed a love for teaching, and am a teacher for Communication Foundation. I have also been certified in Virtual Teaching and am working to complete my TEFL certificate to teach English to students. The pandemic had me teaching English students across the globe, including India, the UAE and Pakistan, which has granted me global perspectives as well.
How do you teach that helps students learn efficiently?
I use peer-feedback to help them assess each other and understand how they can improve in group settings. Moreover, I help them develop confidence in speaking and relieve anxiety through mindfulness techniques. For exam preparation, I teach them tips to ace their examinations with ease.
Why do you enjoy teaching?
I am deeply passionate about teaching because I love meeting new kids, and every child is different and needs classes tailored to them. I love seeing my students grow into confident people and being able to express their ideas effectively. I hope that one day, they can change the world in their own small/big ways and delivering to them the power of communication would greatly help.
What’s one fun fact about you?
I have a variety of hobbies, ranging from palm reading to watercolor painting and knitting. I am also a published author and have been writing poetry/prose since the age of 13.
