Saint Vincent and the Grenadines CXC CAPE Management of Business

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of business management principles and their practical application. The syllabus is structured into two units, each covering three modules.

Unit 1: Management Principles and Processes

This unit focuses on the fundamental principles and processes involved in managing a business. It explores the various internal and external factors that influence business operations and delves into the management of human resources, financial resources, and accounting principles.

Module 1: Business and its Environment

This module examines the dynamic relationship between businesses and their environment. It covers topics such as the nature and scope of business, the different types of business organizations, and the impact of economic, social, technological, and legal factors on business operations.

Module 2: The Management of People

This module focuses on the principles and practices of human resource management. It covers topics such as recruitment, selection, training, motivation, performance appraisal, and industrial relations.

Module 3: Business Finance and Accounting

This module introduces students to the principles of finance and accounting. It covers topics such as financial statements, budgeting, cost accounting, investment appraisal, and financial risk management.

Unit 2: Application in Management

This unit focuses on the practical application of management principles in specific areas of business, including production and operations, marketing, and small business management.

Module 1: Production and Operations Management

This module examines the processes involved in producing and delivering goods and services. It covers topics such as production planning, inventory control, quality management, and supply chain management.

Module 2: Fundamentals of Marketing

This module introduces students to the principles and practices of marketing. It covers topics such as market research, product development, pricing, promotion, and distribution.

Module 3: Small Business Management

This module focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by small businesses. It covers topics such as business planning, financing, marketing, and managing growth.
