Saint Vincent and the Grenadines CXC CAPE Subjects - French

The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) French syllabus is designed to develop proficiency in the four language skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. It also aims to foster an understanding of Francophone culture through the exploration of various topics and contemporary literature relevant to Caribbean society.

The syllabus is structured into two units:

Unit 1: Family, Society, and Environment

  • Module 1: The Individual, Family, and Daily Life
  • Module 2: Society and Social Issues
  • Module 3: The Environment

Unit 2: Current Events, Technology, and Economy

  • Module 1: Current Events
  • Module 2: Science and Technology
  • Module 3: Industry and Economy

Entry Requirements (SVGCC):

To be eligible for CAPE French at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC), applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency Grades I, II, or III in French or equivalent GCE results. 2. A 'C' profile in Writing at the French CXC level. 3. CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency Grades I, II, or III in English A or equivalent GCE results.

Students are permitted to take a minimum of three and a maximum of four CAPE subjects. To pursue four subjects, students must have achieved at least seven Grade ones at the CSEC level. All students enrolled in CAPE are required to take Communication Studies in their first year. Caribbean Studies is an optional subject offered in the second year.
