San Marino Scuola Secondaria Superiore - Liceo Economico Aziendale: Fundamentals of Law and Economics

This course is equivalent to the Italian Ragioniere and Perito Commerciale diplomas, recognized under a bilateral agreement. The curriculum blends technical and traditional high school subjects, emphasizing math and foreign languages.

Goals:

  • Develop critical thinking skills for analyzing real-world situations.
  • Prepare students for higher education and professional careers.
  • Provide a framework for understanding legal and economic models in national and international contexts.
  • Foster responsible economic and social citizenship.

Curriculum Structure:

The program is divided into two cycles:

  • Biennio (Years 1-2): Provides a broad foundation with subjects similar to other high school tracks. Experiential learning includes legal workshops at the Civil and Criminal Court and legislative simulations at the Palazzo Pubblico. Company visits to San Marino businesses are also incorporated. Complementary didactic activities include Law and Economics, IT, History, and Italian/Physics.
  • Triennio (Years 3-5): Focuses on specialized subjects like business economics, civil/commercial/public law, political economics, public finance, history, and philosophy. A comparative approach examines Italian, San Marino, and international legal frameworks. English language skills are enhanced through a study abroad program in Year 4 and opportunities to earn English language certifications (PET, First). Complementary didactic activities include Law and Economics, Math, and Business Economics.

Work-Study Program:

The curriculum includes a work-study program (alternanza scuola-lavoro) to provide practical experience. Students undertake internships in public administration offices (Year 3), private companies (Year 4), and with lawyers and accountants (Year 5).

Engagement with Institutions:

The program facilitates interaction with political, legal, social, and economic institutions through conferences, conventions, seminars, and workshops. Students also participate in the "Newspaper in the Classroom" project, supported by the San Marino Cassa di Risparmio Foundation, focusing on media literacy and journalistic writing.
