San Marino Scuola Secondaria Superiore - Liceo Economico Aziendale

The Liceo Economico Aziendale at the Scuola Secondaria Superiore in San Marino is a vocational school established in 1999 and operational since the 2000-2001 school year. The program leads to a diploma equivalent to the qualification of accountant and commercial expert, recognized in Italy based on a bilateral agreement.

Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum combines technical and traditional high school subjects, with an emphasis on mathematics and foreign languages. It aims to:

  • Equip students with the cultural and methodological tools for a deep understanding of reality, fostering rational, creative, and critical thinking.
  • Provide knowledge and skills for higher education and integration into the workforce and society.
  • Develop conceptual frameworks for analyzing legal and economic models in national and international contexts.
  • Foster responsible economic and social citizenship, promoting positive values and active civic engagement.

Program Structure:

  • Biennium (Years 1-2): The first two years offer a broad foundation, with subjects similar to other high school programs. Students participate in legal workshops at the Civil and Criminal Court and legislative simulations at the Palazzo Pubblico. Company visits to San Marino businesses are also included.
  • Triennium (Years 3-5): The curriculum becomes more specialized, focusing on business administration, civil/commercial/public law, political economics, public finance, history, and philosophy. There's a continuous comparison of Italian, San Marino, and international regulations. English language skills are enhanced through a study abroad program in the fourth year and opportunities to obtain English language certifications (PET, First).

Work-Study Program:

The program includes a work-study component ("stage") to provide practical experience and career orientation. Students intern in public administration offices during the third year, private companies in the fourth year, and with lawyers and accountants in the fifth year.

Additional Activities:

The school facilitates connections with political, legal, social, and economic institutions through conferences, seminars, and workshops. It also participates in the "Newspaper in the Classroom" project, supported by the San Marino Savings Bank Foundation, to promote media literacy and journalistic writing skills.

Language Study:

The curriculum includes French or German language study throughout the five-year program.
