San Marino Scuola Secondaria Superiore: Liceo Economico Aziendale

The Liceo Economico Aziendale is a vocational program within the Scuola Secondaria Superiore (Secondary School) of San Marino. Established in 1999 and launched in the 2000-2001 academic year, this program offers a diploma equivalent to the Italian qualifications of Ragioniere (Accountant) and Perito Commerciale (Business Expert), recognized in Italy based on a bilateral agreement from April 28, 1983, and subsequent regulations.

Curriculum

The curriculum blends technical and traditional high school education, emphasizing mathematics and foreign languages. It aims to:

  • Equip students with the cultural and methodological tools for a deep understanding of reality, fostering rational, creative, and critical thinking.
  • Provide knowledge and skills for higher education and integration into the workforce and society.
  • Develop conceptual frameworks for analyzing legal and economic models, both domestically and internationally.
  • Cultivate responsible citizens with strong socio-economic values and an active civic mindset.

Biennio (Years 1-2): The first two years share a common foundation with other high school programs. Students participate in legal workshops at the Civil and Criminal Court and legislative simulations at the Palazzo Pubblico, providing insights into the judiciary and parliament. Field trips to local businesses are also included.

Triennio (Years 3-5): The curriculum becomes more specialized, focusing on business economics, civil/commercial/public law, political economics, public finance, history, and philosophy, with a comparative approach to San Marino, Italian, and international regulations. English language proficiency is enhanced through a study abroad program in the fourth year and opportunities to obtain English language certifications (PET, First).

Work-Study Program

The program integrates a work-study component (stage) to provide practical experience. This allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, assess their preparedness, and gain career orientation. Internships take place in public administration offices during the third year, private companies in the fourth year, and with lawyers and accountants in the fifth year.

Extracurricular Activities

The Liceo Economico Aziendale actively participates in conferences, seminars, and workshops, fostering connections with political, legal, social, and economic institutions in San Marino, Italy, and Europe. The program also contributes to the "Quotidiano in classe" project, supported by the Fondazione San Marino Cassa di Risparmio, which aims to develop media literacy and journalistic skills.
