Sao Tome and Principe - Information and Communication Technology (2º ciclo Ensino Secundário)

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Sao Tome and Principe's education system has seen significant developments in recent years, although challenges remain.

A 2007 World Bank report highlighted the lack of a specific ICT policy and the limited liberalization of internet access. At the time, the Polytechnic Institute was the only public tertiary institution with a computer lab, offering courses ranging from word processing to internet research. There were plans to improve internet connectivity in secondary schools through the Netescolas project. Bahnhof ST also offered free online training.

More recent developments show a growing focus on integrating ICT into education. In 2021, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education partnered with Tecnoplus, an ICT company, to implement a "One Laptop per Child" project. In 2022, the Learning Passport STP, a digital learning platform, was adopted. This platform offers online, mobile, and offline access to educational content and employs a blended learning approach. Over 250 young volunteers have been trained to support pilot schools using the Learning Passport. The Learning Passport app is also available on Google Play. and a dedicated platform exists for Sao Tome and Principe.
