History
Saudi Arabia, located on the Arabian Peninsula, has a rich history. Humans have lived in this area for over 125,000 years. In the 7th century, the Prophet Muhammad, an important figure in Islam, was born in Mecca. He later moved to Medina, another important city in Islam. In 1932, Ibn Saud united different regions and founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Geography
Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the Middle East, covering most of the Arabian Peninsula. It's located between the continents of Asia and Africa. Much of Saudi Arabia is desert, including the Rubʿ al-Khali, one of the largest sandy deserts in the world. The country has mountains in the west and very little rainfall. Riyadh is the capital and largest city.
Culture
Islam is the main religion in Saudi Arabia. Mecca and Medina are two of the holiest cities in Islam, located in Saudi Arabia. Traditional clothing for men and boys includes a long white cloak called a thobe. Family is very important in Saudi Arabian culture.
Daily Life
Most people in Saudi Arabia live in cities and towns. Daily life is greatly influenced by Islamic traditions. Soccer is a popular sport. |
