Senegal CM2 Curriculum - French

The CM2 (Cours Moyen 2ème année) is the final year of primary school in Senegal, equivalent to the 5th grade. The Senegalese education system is heavily influenced by the French system, with French being the primary language of instruction. Students in CM2 are typically 10 years old. While efforts have been made to incorporate more Senegalese elements into the curriculum, French remains dominant.

The core subjects in CM2 include French, mathematics, and science. Additional subjects include reading, geography, health, and hygiene. Some programs also incorporate instruction in maternal languages and religious education.

French Language Learning:

In CM2, French language learning focuses on developing comprehensive communication skills, both oral and written. Students learn to recount facts, describe, justify answers, create stories, summarize, and write poetry, while adhering to proper composition and grammar rules.
