Senegal Primary School CM1 and CM2 Curriculum - History

The Senegalese primary education system spans six years, encompassing three two-year cycles. Students progress through Introductory Course (CI) and Preparatory Course (CP), followed by Elementary Course 1 (CE1) and Elementary Course 2 (CE2), culminating in Cours Moyen 1 (CM1) and Cours Moyen 2 (CM2). CM1 is equivalent to the fourth grade, and CM2 is equivalent to the fifth grade. Upon completion of primary school, students take the Certificate for Graduation from Primary School (CFEE) exam.

While the specific details of the history curriculum for CM1 and CM2 are not readily available, the broader primary curriculum has been noted as outdated, with some sources indicating it dates back to 1979. A multigrade teaching approach is sometimes employed, where students in combined CM1/CM2 classrooms work towards the CFEE simultaneously.
