Serbia Primary School Syllabus - Art (Primary 1)

The Art curriculum for Primary 1 in Serbia, known as "Likovna kultura," focuses on developing foundational skills in visual arts and encouraging creative expression. While the precise, detailed curriculum remains elusive, the following learning objectives have been identified:

  • Visual Awareness: Students are trained to recognize and differentiate lines, colors, shapes, and patterns in their surroundings. They learn to name different colors and perceive the difference between natural and man-made objects.
  • Art Terminology: Students are introduced to basic art terms such as drawing, painting, artist, collage, sculptor, tableau vivant, and comics.
  • Tool and Material Use: Students learn to safely and appropriately use tools and materials for artistic expression, including scissors, plasticine, glue, pencils, and paints.
  • Creative Expression: Students are encouraged to express their experiences, feelings, and imagination through art, using various artistic and non-artistic materials like cardboard, paper, glue, plasticine, pencils, pine cones, grains, buttons, and paints.
  • Sensory Exploration: Students explore and differentiate various textures, such as smooth, rough, soft, and hard.
  • Presentation and Appreciation: Students actively participate in presenting their own artwork and the work of their peers. They learn to express their impressions of their own and others' work and recognize different art techniques and materials. They also learn to appreciate their own work and the work of others.
