Serbia Primary School English Language Curriculum

Primary education in Serbia is compulsory and lasts for eight years, divided into two cycles: grades 1-4 and grades 5-8. English language instruction is mandatory throughout primary school.

First Cycle (Grades 1-4)

English Language: 2 hours per week. The curriculum for this cycle covers foundational language skills.

Second Cycle (Grades 5-8)

English Language: 2 hours per week. In this cycle, students continue to develop their English language proficiency. A second foreign language is introduced in Year 5.

Additional Information

Individualized Education Programs (IOPs) are available for students with learning difficulties (IOP1), special educational needs (IOP2), and exceptional abilities (IOP3).
