Seychelles Primary Technology and Enterprise Curriculum
This curriculum focuses on developing skills in applying knowledge, processes, and resources to tasks in various contexts such as agriculture and fisheries, construction, textile and fashion, hospitality, health, and welfare. The curriculum is structured around attainment targets for each primary level (1-6).
Primary 1 Technology and Enterprise Attainment Targets
By the end of Primary 1, learners are expected to be able to:
1. Technology Process:
- Investigate familiar and unfamiliar products using their senses.
- Generate ideas on materials given based on play experience.
- Use materials provided to produce an end product under direction and supervision.
- Talk about their work and other people's work in simple terms.
2. Information and Communication:
- Collect basic information from familiar sources (family, teacher) to design a product.
- Document what they want to do using pictures and words.
- Use information collected to design the end product.
3. Skills:
- Manipulate simple tools and materials with help where needed.
- Choose appropriate tools and materials.
- Adopt ways to pack away materials and store tools safely after use.
- Adopt ways to identify hazardous materials and handle them safely.
4. Enterprise:
- Solve problems within their immediate classroom and school environment.
- Demonstrate positive ways to approach adults or peers for help with problems.
- Apply process skills (e.g., steps to use a pair of scissors) involving repetition to solve problems.
5. Society and Environment:
- Explore the uses of various technologies.
- Identify ways technologies can assist towards their personal needs and the needs of others.
