Seychelles Secondary 2 School Syllabus - Art and Design
Art and Design is offered at the Secondary 2 level (equivalent to Key Stage 3, Year 7) in Seychelles. At the Vijay International School Praslin (VISP), the Cambridge International Lower Secondary Art and Design Curriculum is followed. This curriculum aims to provide students with a platform for self-expression, fostering imagination, creativity, and developing transferable skills. Students are encouraged to explore and push boundaries, becoming reflective, critical, and decisive thinkers. They learn to articulate personal responses to their experiences. At VISP, students have a double period of Art timetabled each week. The course supports progression to many other creative subjects and is offered as an option subject at Key Stage 4.
The Cambridge Lower Secondary Art & Design curriculum is taught through a range of investigative, art-making, and reflective activities. It encompasses various study areas, such as painting, printmaking, model making, and digital art. Schools can adapt the curriculum content to their local context and available resources. The curriculum emphasizes formative feedback from teachers to students, focusing on skill development through discussion, observation, and lesson outputs. There are no formal Cambridge progression tests or checkpoints at the lower secondary level for this subject. |
