General Learning Outcomes (Class 1-3)
By the end of the first stage of basic education, learners should be able to demonstrate basic skills in various practical art forms, developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creative thinking. They should also be able to appreciate the role of art in their communities.
Specific Learning Outcomes (Class 2)
- Explore new materials and techniques for self-expression.
- Produce random designs and progress to more structured creations.
- Explore images and relate them to art concepts.
- Differentiate between regular and irregular shapes.
- Create and prepare surfaces to enhance artwork.
- Develop skills in working with clay.
Course Content
First Term
- Designing: Stippling: Creating designs using dots with watercolors and brushes or toothbrushes. Designing outfits with patterned paper and sticking them on a designed background.
- Blow Design: Creating designs by blowing watercolors on paper and shading with pastels or crayons. Identifying potential uses for the designs.
- Tracing and Creating Lines: Tracing and creating lines of varying thickness with colors or markers.
- Tracing and Creating Letters: Tracing and creating letters with varying thickness. Understanding the difference between thick/bold and thin/dull letters.
- Tracing and Creating Numbers (0-9): Tracing and creating numbers with varying thickness. Understanding the difference between thick/bold and thin/dull numbers.
- Draw Yourself: Creating a self-portrait, identifying and drawing body parts, and shading the picture.
Second Term
- Designing: Squash Out / Butterfly Design: Creating symmetrical designs using the squash out or butterfly technique. Enhancing the work by outlining and shading.
- Driving / Directing Colors: Creating designs by directing or driving colors on paper. Shading empty spaces and decorating with line patterns.
- Irregular / Free-Formed Shapes: Creating and tracing irregular shapes. Shading empty spaces smoothly or roughly.
- Regular / Geometric Shapes: Creating and tracing regular shapes (circle, triangle, square, oval, rectangle). Shading empty spaces smoothly or roughly. Creating a design with a family of shapes.
- My Pet: Drawing and shading a picture of a pet.
- Paper Collage: Creating designs by cutting and pasting colored paper onto a surface.
Third Term
- Fingerprints Creating Spiders: Creating spider-like images using fingerprints and markers.
- Handprints: Creating images using handprints and markers. Shading around the handprints.
- Tracing and Creating Objects: Tracing and shading objects with chosen colors. Creating nice shades.
- My Best Friend: Drawing and painting a picture of a best friend.
- My Family: Drawing and shading a picture of family members.
- Writings and Textures Clay: Creating writings and textures on clay, exploring rough and smooth textures.
