Everyday Arithmetic

  • Addition and Subtraction: Pupils will be able to add and subtract numbers up to 100,000 with and without renaming, using place value and the vertical method. They will also solve story problems involving addition and subtraction, including more complex word problems that require multiple steps.
  • Finding Missing Addends: Pupils will be able to find missing addends in addition problems.
  • Comparing Quantities: Pupils will be able to compare two quantities using the symbols <, >, and =.

Measurement and Estimation

  • Metric System for Length: Pupils will be able to use the metric system for measuring length, including converting between millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers. They will also solve word problems involving metric measurement for length.
  • Area of Rectangles and Squares: Pupils will be able to calculate the area of rectangles and squares using counting of area and formulae.
  • Mass, Volume, and Capacity: Pupils will be able to calculate the total mass of objects and understand the difference between volume and capacity by comparing and contrasting. They will also solve word problems involving area, mass, volume, and capacity.

Geometry Angles

  • Identifying Angles: Pupils will be able to identify acute, obtuse, and right angles using degrees.
  • Measuring Angles: Pupils will be able to measure acute and obtuse angles using a protractor.
  • Comparing Angles: Pupils will be able to compare angles using degrees and the symbols <, >, and =.
  • Estimating Angles: Pupils will be able to estimate acute and obtuse angles up to 180 degrees.

Number Patterns

  • Number Sequences: Pupils will be able to complete number sequences by adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing by a common number or using a combination of operations. They will also be able to describe the rule for a sequence.
  • Multiplication and Division: Pupils will revise multiplication and division tables up to 12, learn to multiply by 1 and 0, multiply by 3-digit numbers using non-formal methods, and solve word problems involving multiplication and division. They will also learn to recognize the expression "of" as multiplication and interpret remainders in division sums.
