Sierra Leone JSS 1 Syllabus - Sierra Leone Language

This syllabus covers the Sierra Leone Language options of Krio, Mende, and Temne for Junior Secondary School (JSS) level 1. The curriculum was implemented with effect from October 2020 for Krio and December 2020 for Mende, as part of the New Basic Education Curriculum for Sierra Leone. The Temne syllabus is also part of this curriculum framework. The overall aim of the Sierra Leone Language component is to promote literacy and communication skills in these languages, alongside English. The National Curriculum Framework provides guidance for the implementation of this curriculum.

Krio

The Krio syllabus for JSS 1 covers various aspects of the language, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension. The curriculum aims to enable students to communicate effectively in Krio, both orally and in writing. It also emphasizes the importance of Krio in Sierra Leonean culture. Mende

Temne

The Temne syllabus for JSS 1 aims to develop students' understanding of the Temne language and its cultural significance. It covers various aspects of the language, including its history, grammar, vocabulary, and oral and written communication.
