Singapore JC Subject List - Geography (H2)
The H2 Geography syllabus aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of geographical concepts and their application to real-world issues. The syllabus is structured around four core clusters:
1. Development, Economy and Environment: This cluster explores the complex interplay between human development, economic activities, and their impact on the environment. It examines topics such as resource management, sustainable development, and the environmental consequences of economic growth.
2. Tropical Environments: This cluster focuses on the unique physical processes and landforms characteristic of tropical regions. Students will study topics such as climate systems, hydrological cycles, and soil formation in the tropics.
3. Sustainable Future and Climate Change: This cluster examines the challenges and opportunities associated with creating a sustainable future in the face of climate change. It covers topics such as climate change impacts, mitigation strategies, and the role of renewable energy.
4. Fieldwork: This component provides students with practical experience in geographical investigation. They will design and conduct fieldwork, collect and analyze data, and present their findings.
Assessment:
The H2 Geography assessment typically involves two papers, each three hours long. Paper 1 consists of structured essay questions, while Paper 2 focuses on data response and geographical investigation. Fieldwork also contributes to the overall assessment. |
