Syllabus

The H1 History syllabus (8838) focuses on the key forces and developments that shaped the second half of the 20th century. It covers the Cold War and its impact on developments in international, regional, and local contexts. The syllabus aims to provide students with the necessary historical knowledge and understanding to analyze and interpret historical events and issues.

Assessment Objectives

H1 History students are expected to:

• AO1: Demonstrate Historical Knowledge and Understanding: Select and deploy historical knowledge appropriately and effectively.
• AO2: Comprehension and Application of Source Materials: Comprehend and analyze source material, evaluating its provenance, purpose, and content.
• AO3: Analysis and Evaluation: Analyze and evaluate historical interpretations and perspectives, constructing well-supported arguments.

Assessment Format

The H1 History syllabus features one paper:

• Paper 1: 3 hours duration, consisting of a Source-Based Case Study and essay questions. Students must select one out of two essay questions set on the Cold War and Asia (1945-1991).
