Singapore JC Subject List - Gujarati (H1)
Gujarati (H1) is offered as a subject in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examination. It can be taken in lieu of H1 Mother Tongue.
Examination Format
The Gujarati H1 exam consists of one paper, divided into two parts, totaling 3 hours.
- Part 1: Essay (40 marks): Candidates choose one of five essay topics and write approximately 350 words.
- Part 2: Comprehension and Use of Language (60 marks): This section includes:
- Comprehension questions (8 questions, 24%) based on a passage of 350-400 words.
- Vocabulary questions (5 questions, 5%) based on the same passage.
- Sentence construction using given vocabulary (5 questions, 10%).
- Sentence construction using idioms, proverbs, and word pairs (5 questions, 10%).
- Separation/combination of words (5 questions, 5%).
- Grammar cloze test (6 questions, 6%).
