The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Higher 1 (H1) Hindi syllabus covers the following:

Examination Format:

The H1 Hindi examination consists of one paper with two parts, totaling 3 hours:

  • Part 1: Essay (40 marks): Candidates choose one of five given topics and write an essay of approximately 350 words.
  • Part 2: Comprehension and Use of Language (60 marks): This section includes:
      • Comprehension questions (8 questions, 24%) based on a passage of 350-400 words.
      • Vocabulary questions (5 questions, 5%) based on the same passage.
      • Sentence construction using given vocabulary (5 questions, 10%).
      • Sentence construction using idioms, proverbs, and word pairs (5 questions, 10%).
      • Separation/combination of words (5 questions, 5%).
      • Grammar: Cloze test (6 questions, 6%).
