H2 Economics (Singapore Junior College)

H2 Economics equips students with a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and their application to real-world scenarios. The curriculum emphasizes analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to evaluate economic policies.

Syllabus

The H2 Economics syllabus is structured around three core themes:

  • Theme 1: The Central Economic Problem: This theme introduces the fundamental economic problem of scarcity and choice. It covers concepts such as opportunity cost, production possibility frontiers, and different economic systems.
  • Theme 2: Markets: This theme delves into the workings of different market structures, including perfect competition, monopoly, and oligopoly. It also covers market failure and government intervention.
  • Theme 3: The National and International Economy: This theme explores macroeconomic concepts such as national income accounting, inflation, unemployment, and economic growth. It also covers international trade and exchange rates.

A significant syllabus revision was implemented for the 2023 cohort (9570 H2 Economics - Revised), which included the incorporation of cognitive biases.
