H1 General Studies in Chinese
H1 General Studies in Chinese is a subject offered at Junior Colleges (JC) in Singapore. It is typically taken by students who did not take Higher Chinese at the O-Level examinations. Students are required to fulfill the Mother Tongue Language (MTL) requirement for university admission. A sub-pass ('S' grade) in H1 MTL, or a D7 grade in O-Level Higher Mother Tongue, is the minimum requirement for university admission. For students who perform well, the MTL grade can be included as an H1 subject to contribute to the University Admission Score.
Syllabus
The H1 Chinese syllabus aims to develop students' ability to analyze and understand Chinese texts at a deeper level compared to secondary school. The 2024 H1 Chinese Language syllabus (8655) is available from the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB). The Ministry of Education (MOE) provides information on A-Level curriculum and subject syllabuses.
