Singapore Primary 4 Higher Malay Language

Higher Malay is offered as an option for Primary 3 and 4 students in Singapore. The Ministry of Education (MOE) introduced Higher Malay Language (HML) for Primary 3 students starting in 2022 and for Primary 4 students from 2023 onwards. This initiative aims to allow more students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the Malay language and culture from a younger age. From 2026, students who perform well in their Mother Tongue Language (MTL) at the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) will be eligible to take Higher Mother Tongue Language (HMTL) in Secondary 1, regardless of their overall PSLE score. While the specific details of the Primary 4 Higher Malay syllabus are not readily available online, the general aim of the program is to provide a more in-depth learning experience compared to the standard Malay curriculum.
