Singapore Primary 4 Science Syllabus
This syllabus covers five core themes: Diversity, Cycles, Interactions, Systems, and Energy.
Diversity
This theme focuses on the diversity of living things, including plants and animals, and how they have adapted to different environments. Students learn about the characteristics of living and non-living things. A key aspect is understanding the variety of living things and their classifications.
Cycles
This theme explores life cycles of plants and animals. Understanding the stages of these cycles and their importance is crucial.
Interactions
This theme delves into the interactions between living things and their environment. It covers the relationships between organisms, their dependence on resources, adaptations for survival, and their impact on the environment. Topics like food chains and habitats are also explored.
Systems
This theme examines plant and human systems. Students learn about the different parts and functions of these systems, including the digestive system in humans and the various parts of a plant.
Energy
This theme introduces students to different forms of energy, including light and heat. It builds upon the physical science topics introduced in Primary 3. Understanding energy transfer and its effects is a key learning outcome. |
