Singapore Primary 4 Science - G1

The Singapore Primary 4 Science syllabus is structured around five core themes: Diversity, Cycles, Interactions, Systems, and Energy. These themes provide a foundation for understanding scientific concepts.

Diversity

This theme explores the variety of living things, including plants and animals, and their adaptations to different environments. It covers the diversity of materials and their properties such as strength, flexibility, and transparency. A subtopic within Diversity is classifying living and non-living things.

Cycles

This theme delves into the concept of cycles, focusing on life cycles of plants and animals. It also covers cycles in matter, particularly the water cycle.

Interactions

This theme examines the interactions between and within different systems in the environment, including how living and non-living things interact. A key subtopic is the interaction of forces, specifically with magnets.

Systems

This theme explores various systems, including the human and plant systems. Students learn about the components and functions of these systems.

Energy

This theme focuses on different forms of energy, primarily light and heat. Students learn about the properties of light, sources of heat, conductors and insulators, and the movement of heat. The Sun is identified as the primary source of light and heat energy. Understanding the concept of heat and how it relates to the amount of heat in a substance is also emphasized.
