Singapore Secondary 2 Tamil Language (G2)

This course aims to develop students into proficient Tamil language users, focusing on communication, culture, and connection. It builds upon the foundation established in primary school, enhancing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as spoken and written interaction. The curriculum incorporates cultural and literary elements to provide a rich learning experience and promote cross-cultural awareness. It also leverages technology and community partnerships to extend learning beyond the classroom.

  • Use of contemporary issues and current affairs materials: Contextualizes learning and demonstrates the relevance of Tamil language in the real world.
  • Greater integration of ICT-enabled lessons: Interactive lessons and digital resources are used to enhance engagement and learning.

Assessment

Assessment is an integral part of the learning process and is used to monitor student progress and inform teaching practices. A balanced assessment system, including both Assessment of Learning and Assessment for Learning, is employed. Various assessment modes are used, including:

  • School-based standardized assessments
  • Formative assessments (e.g., Weighted Assessment)
  • Alternative assessments (e.g., speeches, debates, role-play)
