Singapore Secondary 1 English Language G2
Starting from 2024, the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore implemented Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) across all secondary schools. This system replaces the previous streaming system (Express, Normal Academic, Normal Technical) and allows students to take subjects at different levels (G1, G2, G3) based on their strengths and interests. G2 corresponds roughly to the former Normal Academic level.
Secondary 1 English Language G2 focuses on building a strong foundation in English language skills. While a specific G2 syllabus may not be explicitly published separately, the curriculum aims to equip students with the necessary competencies for effective communication.
Typical topics covered in Secondary 1 English include:
- Reading Comprehension
- Continuous Writing
- Editing
- Literary Devices
- Irony
- Summary Writing
Students in Secondary 1 are placed in form classes with peers of different profiles, fostering a more inclusive learning environment. They can choose subjects at different G levels, allowing for personalized learning pathways. Students can progress to higher G levels in subsequent years if they demonstrate proficiency. |
