Singapore Secondary 2 Mathematics (G2)
This course follows the syllabus set by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Singapore. It aims to equip students with the mathematical concepts and skills necessary for continuous learning in mathematics and other subjects, develop problem-solving skills, connect mathematical ideas within and across disciplines, and foster confidence and interest in mathematics.
The syllabus is organized into three content strands: Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics and Probability. Learning experiences are designed to develop mathematical processes, metacognition, and positive attitudes towards mathematics.
Number and Algebra
- Secondary 1:
- Numbers and their operations (primes, HCF, LCM, integers, rationals, real numbers, approximations)
- Algebraic expressions and formulae (using letters, notations, evaluation, simple real-world translations)
- Equations and inequalities (linear equations)
- Secondary 2:
- Ratio and proportion (map scales, direct and inverse proportion)
- Algebraic expressions and formulae (expansion, factorization, simple algebraic fractions)
- Functions and graphs (Cartesian coordinates, linear functions, gradients)
- Equations and inequalities (linear equations with fractional coefficients, simple inequalities, simultaneous linear equations)
