Slovakia Maturita Exam: English
The Maturita exam is a school-leaving exam for upper secondary education in Slovakia. English is a popular foreign language choice for the exam, with students typically selecting either the B1 or B2 level. Bilingual schools also offer the C1 level.
B1 Level
The B1 level exam is considered the intermediate level. Resources for the B1 level include vocabulary lists, practice exercises, and listening comprehension materials. Practice materials and flashcards are also available online. The exam evaluates listening, use of English, and reading comprehension.
B2 Level
The B2 level exam is considered more challenging than the B1 level. Similar to the B1 level, the B2 exam also assesses listening, reading, and use of English skills. Past exam papers and sample tests are available for practice. Additional resources, such as topic-based videos and essay examples, are also available.
Both B1 and B2 level exams include external and internal components. The external part is centrally assessed and covers listening, reading, and use of English. The internal part consists of written and oral exams, which are evaluated by the student's school. March is a common exam period for the Maturita exam, with thousands of students taking the English test each year. |
