Slovakia Primary 4 Curriculum - First Foreign Language

As of 2015, English is the compulsory first foreign language for all primary school pupils in Slovakia. This has led to a decline in proficiency in other foreign languages among Slovakian students.

Primary education in Slovakia spans grades 1 to 4. While a first foreign language is part of the curriculum, extensive foreign language teaching isn't implemented at this level. The new national curriculum for primary and lower secondary education began its rollout in September 2023, starting with 40 primary schools.
