Overall Curriculum Structure:
The Sport curriculum is divided into three educational periods:
- First Period (1st-3rd Grade): Focuses on foundational movement skills, play, and introduction to basic sports.

2. Razred (2nd Grade) Specifics:
The 2nd Grade curriculum falls within the First Educational Period and emphasizes developing fundamental movement skills and a positive association with physical activity through play. It includes 105 hours of instruction and five sport days throughout the school year.
Key Learning Areas:
- Fundamental Movement Skills and Games: This includes various forms of walking, running, throwing, jumping, climbing, crawling, rolling, hanging, carrying, pushing, falling, and pulling. Games are incorporated to develop coordination, strength, speed, flexibility, accuracy, balance, and general endurance. Students also learn basic rules and sportsmanship.
- Athletics Introduction: Students are introduced to basic running, jumping, and throwing skills through games and activities. They learn about concepts like starting, taking off, landing, and measuring distance.
- Gymnastics Introduction: Basic gymnastic exercises are introduced, including rolling, swinging, handstands, cartwheels, and using equipment like benches, beams, and vaults. Spatial orientation and body position terminology are also covered.
- Dance and Movement Games: Students explore movement through dance and games, focusing on body awareness, rhythm, and creative expression. They learn children's dances, folk dances, and breathing exercises.
- Games with Balls: Students develop ball-handling skills through various games and activities, using different body parts and equipment like bats and sticks. They practice rolling, throwing, catching, and striking.
- Swimming Introduction (For schools with facilities): A 20-hour swimming course is typically offered in the 2nd or 3rd grade. Students learn to adapt to the water, practice basic swimming techniques, and learn water safety rules.
- Hiking: At least two hikes are included in the curriculum, focusing on basic hiking knowledge, safety, and environmental awareness.
- Assessment and Monitoring of Motor Skills and Physical Characteristics: Students participate in various tests to assess their motor skills and physical development. They learn about measurement units and how to track their progress.
Additional Activities (Offered by schools with resources):
- Winter Activities (For schools with resources and during winter sports days): Includes snow games, sledding, skating, and introductory skiing.
- Sports Programs: Participation in programs like "Zlati Sonček" (Golden Sun) which introduces various sports like roller skating, cycling, and skiing. Also, the "Ciciban Planinec" (Little Mountaineer) program encourages hiking and outdoor activities.
