Slovenia 7th Grade: First Foreign Language
In Slovenia, the first foreign language is introduced in the second grade (age 7) as a compulsory subject. The most common first foreign languages are English and German, with schools choosing which to offer. This continues to be a compulsory subject throughout primary school, including 7th grade. In the first four years of primary school (grades 1-4), students typically stay in the same classroom with one teacher for most subjects. From 5th grade onwards, students begin switching classrooms for different subjects as their curriculum expands.
A second foreign language may be introduced as a compulsory optional subject from 7th to 9th grade. Schools can choose from English, German, and other languages like French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and more.
While the first foreign language curriculum specifics for 7th grade are not readily available, the focus remains on developing language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing within the chosen language (English or German). |
