Slovenia 7th Grade Physical Education
Physical education is a compulsory subject for all school-aged children in Slovenia. The curriculum emphasizes health, fitness, and physical activity, incorporating elements of gymnastics and other sports. A key component of the program is SLOfit, a national fitness monitoring system.
SLOfit: National Fitness Monitoring System
SLOfit (formerly known as the Sports Educational Chart) is a national surveillance system that monitors the physical and motor development of children and youth in Slovenia. Implemented in 1982 and expanded nationwide after five years, SLOfit collects data annually from all primary and secondary schools. This data helps students, parents, teachers, and physicians track physical development, identify potential difficulties, and guide talented children. The program expanded to include adults in 2018.
The SLOfit system provides:
- Physical fitness assessments
- 24-hour movement behavior data
- Personalized support through the My SLOfit web application
SLOfit also serves as a valuable tool for:
- Physical education teachers: Data-driven insights to support student development and physical literacy.
- Healthcare providers and policymakers: Informing public health policies and national strategies.
From 7th to 9th grade, students can also choose elective physical activity and sports courses. Slovenia offers six such courses. |
