Slovenia Osnovna šola Curriculum - Agriculture
This elective subject consists of three courses: Agricultural Work, Modern Agriculture, and Agricultural Economics. It is taught in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades for one hour per week. Students can choose all three courses or select individual ones based on their interests.
The curriculum aims to introduce students to agriculture as a dynamic economic sector and foster an appreciation for its role in Slovenian society. It emphasizes practical skills, sustainable food production, environmental protection, and agricultural safety.
Agricultural Work (7th Grade)
This course introduces students to the importance of food production, basic agricultural activities, and the agricultural landscape of their region. Modern Agriculture (8th Grade)
This course focuses on the evolving role of farmers in preserving Slovenian heritage and culture. Students examine the changing nature of agricultural practices, the influence of natural conditions on farming, and the characteristics of family farms. They also learn about agricultural machinery, their use, maintenance, and safety precautions. The curriculum explores the use of fertilizers and plant protection products, emphasizing responsible and sustainable practices.
Agricultural Economics (9th Grade)
This course delves into the economic aspects of agriculture, including its historical significance, current challenges, and future prospects within the European Union. Students analyze the importance of rural development, sustainable land management, and the role of forestry in agriculture. They also explore opportunities for supplemental income on farms, such as tourism and crafts. The course introduces students to agricultural organizations, support services, and financial planning for farms. It also covers safety measures, first aid, and risk management in agriculture. |
