Latin in Slovenian Education

While detailed information about a specific 8th-grade Latin curriculum in Slovenian Osnovna šola (primary school) is currently unavailable, Latin is present in the Slovenian education system. It is primarily offered in secondary schools, particularly in classical grammar schools (gimnazija). These schools offer a more extensive curriculum in humanities subjects, including Latin, history, and philosophy.

A four-year Latin program (Štiriletni latinski program - ŠOLP) exists for students between the ages of 11 and 15. This program originated from the lower gymnasium classical program in 1958. However, specific details about its curriculum, especially concerning the 8th grade, are not readily accessible.

There is mention of a textbook "Lingua Latina" for Latin in grades 7-9 of the nine-year primary school system. This suggests that Latin might be offered as a subject in some primary schools, but the extent and specifics of its inclusion in the 8th-grade curriculum remain unclear.
