Slovenia Matura Exam Subjects - Natural Sciences
The Matura exam in Slovenia is a standardized test administered by the National Examination Centre (RIC). It serves as a school-leaving examination and university entrance qualification. Within Natural Sciences, students can choose from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as elective subjects, in addition to the compulsory subjects of Slovene, Mathematics, and a foreign language. The Matura is offered in two series: spring (May-June) and autumn (August-September). Year 4 students typically take a mock exam in March.
Biology
The Biology Matura exam assesses knowledge and understanding of biological principles and concepts. The curriculum covers topics such as cell biology, genetics, evolution, and ecology. The exam format includes written components, and practical laboratory work may also be required. The Matura catalog for Biology from 2021 remains valid through 2026.
Chemistry
The Chemistry Matura exam evaluates knowledge of chemical concepts, reactions, and laboratory techniques. Topics covered include stoichiometry, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, and organic chemistry. Practical laboratory skills are also assessed.
Physics
The Physics Matura exam tests knowledge of physical laws, principles, and problem-solving skills. The curriculum covers areas such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, and optics. Practical experiments and data analysis may also be included. |
