Slovenia Matura Exam Subjects - Optional Subjects (choose two)

The Matura exam in Slovenia requires students to choose two optional subjects in addition to the three compulsory subjects (Mother Tongue, Mathematics, and a Foreign Language). These optional subjects can be selected from a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Natural Sciences: Examples include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Foreign and Classical Languages: Examples include English, German, French, Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, and Russian.
  • Humanities: Examples include History, Geography, Philosophy, Art History, Music, and Psychology.
  • Social Sciences: Examples include Sociology, Economics, and Psychology.
Technical and Vocational Subjects: Examples include Computer Science, Informatics, and Biotechnology. Technical gimnazija* also offer optional technical Matura subjects such as Biotechnology, Electrics, Materials, Mechanics and Computing.

The specific optional subjects offered may vary depending on the school and program. The Matura exam is a requirement for entry into university in Slovenia.
