Slovenia Matura Exam Subjects - Psychology

The Matura exam in Slovenia is a school-leaving exam required for the completion of secondary education and for admission to undergraduate university courses. It is also a final examination at vocational schools and allows students to go for studies in vocational colleges. The General Matura (GM) exam is held in Spring (May–June) and Autumn (August–September).

The Matura has two major functions; it is a high school final examination and a selection instrument for University. It comprises five subjects, three compulsory and two elective. Compulsory subjects include Slovene, Hungarian, or Italian language, mathematics, and one foreign language (English, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, or German). Psychology is one of the subjects offered in the Matura exam.

Learning Outcomes for Psychology within the General Matura Certificate:

The General Matura Certificate includes learning outcomes for a wide range of subjects, including Psychology. These learning outcomes are categorized into knowledge, skills, and competencies.

• Knowledge: Students acquire essential knowledge in Psychology, among other disciplines. They are expected to know fundamental concepts and laws in psychology.
• Skills: Students develop cognitive skills such as observation, acquisition of knowledge, comparison, forming logical conclusions, and generalization. They also develop abilities to apply simple research methods to obtain, arrange, interpret and communicate scientific or technical information.
• Competences: Students develop a capacity for autonomous critical judgment and responsible conduct, complex lifelong learning capacity, skills in interpersonal relations, effective communication, cooperation, and quality and responsible relations. They also develop responsibility for the natural environment and their own health, and a capacity for innovation.
