Slovenia Matura Exam: Slovene
The Slovene subject is a compulsory component of the Matura exam in Slovenia. The Matura exam is the final examination for secondary school students in Slovenia and is a prerequisite for entry into higher education institutions. It consists of five subjects: three compulsory subjects and two optional subjects.
The compulsory subjects are:
- Mother Tongue (Slovene, Hungarian, or Italian): Students in ethnically mixed areas can choose between Slovene, Hungarian, or Italian for their mother tongue examination.
- Mathematics: This subject assesses mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
- Foreign Language: Students can choose from a range of foreign languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Italian.
Two additional optional subjects must be chosen from a wide range of subjects, including natural sciences, foreign and classical languages, humanities, social sciences, technical, and vocational subjects. The vocational Matura has slightly different requirements, with two compulsory subjects (mathematics and mother tongue) and two elective subjects. Students must achieve a passing grade in all subjects to pass the Matura exam. |
